1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 2 eggs 1 cup plain flour 1 cup pecan halves 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking pawder additional plain flour 1 cup chocolate chips
Set oven to 190°C.
Process butter, flour, and 1/2 cup sugar until crumbly. Pat this crust into a buttered 23 cm. x 33 cm. pan. Bake for ten minutes. Cool.
Spread pecans evenly over the cool crust. Beat eggs with remaining brown sugar until thick. Add vanilla. Put salt and baking powder into the bottom of a 1/4 cup measure and fill with additional plain flour; stir this into the egg mixture. Pour this over the crust. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the mixture.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the centre is baked. Cool, then cut into 32 pieces.
